When we found out that Roger was a diabetic and that he would have to replace his dietary habits with a "Sugar Free" lifestyle, we thought it would be no BIG DEAL. As we searched the market shelves we found out just how wrong we were. In fact, it was a nightmare! Choices were limited, and of those choices, taste and texture were also limited. It was a world of artificial sweeteners and forbidden foods — no more of Roger’s favorite desserts and fruit spreads ( a diabetic’s poison ). We knew there had to be a way to get around the hard fact of "No More Goodies."
That’s when our mission started. We learned about reading labels, investigating the world of sweeteners, and shopping high and low for products that could provide Roger with the eating pleasures that he enjoyed so much. Hours of searching became days, weeks, and months, but we did find wonderful resources that we could turn to—products that could erase the diabetic’s illusion of limitation.
One by one, we tried product after product from all over the country. Eventually we were able to narrow down our search, based on variety, taste, and texture. Though these items seemed to be expensive, we found that the flavors were so intense that the product actually lasted longer than our old brand names had. In some cases we actually saved money.
As we sat back, enjoying our gourmet meals, snacks, and marvelous desserts, We recalled the many hours of research and trials that were now behind us. It wasn’t easy. We soon recognized there were people, just like us, who were caught in that diabetic struggle to find the right foods that they could enjoy without guilt.
Roger and I started Diabetic’s Delight "Sugar Free" as a means for other diabetics to also find the right products without having to shop the whole country to get them.
